Peter Rabbit and other Tales

Moms, dads, grannies, grandpas, aunts, uncles if you're wanting to do something a little different I suggest a trip to The People's Theatre in Braamfontein.

We rallied up the gang and went to enjoy Peter Rabbit and other Tales. The sets are absolutely beautiful. The characters adorable and the looks on the kiddies faces in the audience, priceless. And if you're worried your little ones won't sit through it or will be disruptive, there's no need. The theatre is especially for kiddies and little people in big people's bodies. The shows are short enough to keep the young theatre goers interested but long enough for you to get your money's worth. Raucous laughter and interaction is encouraged. In fact, it's a prerequisite.

During the show I had to pop out with baby Ben. His groaning and grunting while having a poo was proving to be too much of a distraction for those around us but I could hear the singing and laughing coming from inside. And every now and then one of the character's would run past me to make an entrance from the other side.

Somehow, somewhere during the show, Emma and Luca had made their way down to the very front row and were having an absolute ball. No one moaned or told them to sit down, because that's what theatre for little people is all about.

Emma is so excited for The Little Mermaid which starts on 5 November...she collected about 10 flyers as a reminder.

Peter Rabbit and Other Tales is on until 7 October

PS - moms, for those of you with special needs children or children that need a little bit more attention, contact Andrew at the theatre. He arranges special performances for children with autism, for example, and will let you know via email or a telephone call, when they're happening.

Also if you know of a home, a group of children whose folks wouldn't be able to afford the tickets or if you want to arrange a school trip, there are special discounted tickets available!

Every child should experience the magic of the theatre. They walk out believing they can do anything

Contact Andrew or Lorraine on (011) 403 1563 or 2340

  1. The little mermaid is DIVINE! Jaden absolutely loved it in Cape Town last holidays...

Only things is that they are quite strict about little people sitting in their seats!
