The four gift rule

Christmas comes but once a year and all I can say is thank g-d for that. Money has been scarce this year and because my husband and I are both self employed there's no such thing as a 13th cheque or bonus. There's also no daddy Warbucks leaving me a few million ronts.

I've been dreading going Christmas shopping and seeing all the things I won't be able to buy Emma and Ben this festive season.  I've even thought about relegating them to the naughty list to avoid buying gifts. But that would be wrong. On so many levels.

All is not lost however.  Dire situations call for dire solutions and new ways of thinking and so I was really excited to see this,
'the four gift rule'

And for those a little more so inclined there's a five gift rule, with rule no.5 been something hand made.

I'm going to stick to this this year.  More by necessity than by choice and will try and make it my mantra when buying gifts in the future.

happy holidays everybody.  Hope you get something you want, something you need, something you wear and something you read xxx

  3. Awesome idea! I must say that with all my nieces and nephews, budgeting had to come into play otherwise I'd be completely broke.

  4. We try to do this but we also try to keep Christmas simple - hence the Oumas pitch into this too - H mom bought books this year for instance

  5. We did this last year and no jokes, it was worse than just doing our normal minimalist thing.

So this year we asked them and they said things like nail polish, a car (small one), a book.
