For example I've never just said 'don't do x!'. I have made it a habit to carry on with 'because y will happen'. One of my bug-bears growing up was my mom or dad saying 'because I said so!' and so I swore I'd never do it with my children.
Except today. Today I said because I said so. Emma was asking question after question after. They started off intelligent but slowly got more and more ridiculous and every explanation I tried to give the more she uh-uh'ed or poopie-headed me.
By the time she asked me why it's so windy today I tried to give my best climatologist type reason. I made up some jargon about wind patterns, climate change and something else. Admittedly for not having any idea what I was talking about I sounded pretty impressive. And then Emma said 'no! That's not it!'
At my wits end and close to melting point I said 'ok Emma. You tell me why it's so windy today, Miss Know It All' and she said "it's because the gruffalo farted!"
All I can say is I'm counting down the days to school starting again.
Hahahaha! That's awesome!
